Want Wordpress? Choose Your Host CarefullyIt is becoming increasingly popular to build entire websites with Wordpress.
‘But Wordpress is for blogs!’
Yes, Wordpress is a popular blogging platform but it is also a feature rich content management system with capabilities that can grow with the right scrip plugins and that is what makes it a popular web tool of choice.
If you want to build a blog or a full website with Wordpress, you’ll need to choose your website hosting carefully because Wordpress cannot be installed on all kinds of web servers. To learn more about hosting requirements, visit the Wordpress site.
Even if a host offers the right tools that allow you to install and run Wordpress, I just discovered today that other bumps can show up on the road.
For example, Yahoo hosting allows for the installation and hosting of Wordpress, but you cannot upload an ‘.htaccess’ file so that means no ‘pretty permalinks‘ for your blog.
Since using permalinks is an important aspect of making your site search engine friendly I consider this lack of support a deal breaker.
So before you choose your web host, make sure you know what you can and cannot host on your account.
FYI: MomWebs hosting is just right for Wordpress ![]()

I have been with MomWebs going on 2 years now. For the first year, I struggled to build my site using the RVSite Builder. I know there were times when their tech, Scott, wanted to pull his hair out trying to help me. I am a do-it-yourself type of person, and jumped into the internet webmaster world with no experience whatsoever.
Then I learned on one of the MomWebs training calls, from Scott and Kelly, that I could use my Wordpress blog as my entire site. No more blogging separately from my actual site, everything is in one convenient WordPress cPanel. So much easier to maintain.
Thanks MomWebs!

I am doing Kelly McCausey’s Blogevangelist course and I need to set up wordpress on a hosting account. Would your $15 per quarter web hosting be suitable for this?

Question! I’m preparing, doing my homework, on starting a some-what full service website (no cart yet, but option to down the road) possibly through Wordpress and a separate hosting service. But, I have Windows XP and I use yahoo.com. I see that you say permalinks don’t work…I’m not web-techy knowlegeable and so this is scary territory for me. What can MomWeb offer me in this situation? Or is there another place I need to be looking? I want a very nice looking site w/ links, buttons, banners, I want to do affiliate selling and link to my ebay store, and squidoo lenses and maybe google ads, etc?

Tracy,
MomWebs gives you the easy install option for Wordpress and later when you choose a cart you can add that to your site as well.
You can do everything you mention
P.S. Windows XP doesn’t have anything to do with what you use to build a website
